Michelle Beatley & Nick Johansen

I had the pleasure of spending July 28th with Michelle Beatley and Nick Johansen.  We provided sound support for their wedding ceremony at the Living Museum Amphitheater.  Then the group moved on for a great night at the Point Plaza Suites Hotel for Michell Beatley and Nick Johansen’s Signature Love Story wedding reception.  We welcomed the bridal party with “Good Feeling” by Flo Rida and had some interesting info about each of them.  After Chapter 1 of Nick and Michelle’s Love Story, we cranked up “Welcome To The Jungle” by Guns N’ Roses and brought the newlyweds into the ballroom for their first dance, a special voice-over remix of Ray LaMontagne’s “You Are The Best Thing”.  After a delicious dinner, Michelle and her dad danced to Faith Hill’s “There You’ll Be”, followed by a special live performance by one of Nick and Michelle’s friends of “Forever Young”.   We led off a night of dancing with the Black Eyed Peas “I Gotta Feeling” and it was on from there.  The night concluded with a special Love Story Dance to “Marry Me” by Train which everyone came out and shared a special dance with Michelle and Nick.  The last dance of the evening was “Grow Old With You” by Adam Sandler.  Thanks to Nick and Michelle for a wonderful evening with you and your friends and family.

Melissa Ross & Michael Brock

Kingsmill Resort was the venue for Melissa Ross and Michael Brock’s very special day.  The rainy day didn’t dampen the spirits of this fun crowd who hit the dancefloor and didn’t stop dancing until The Wanted ended the night with “Glad You Came”.  Melissa and Mike started the night with their first dance “Honey Bee” by Blake Shelton.  Melissa and her dad danced to “Unforgettable” while Mike and his mom shared a special mother son dance to “I Hope You Dance” by Lee Ann Womack.  Elgin Morris of Williamsburg Floral provided the beautiful Hydrangea and Sunflower Center peices while Wendy from Kingsmill Photographic services snapped the photos.  Mike and his fellow service members serenaded Melissa to “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”, what a nice touch.  Congratulations and please stay in touch!!  Check out my photos of the night’s fun.

Valia Wisniewski & Drew Maloney

Valia Wisniewski and Drew Maloney were married on July 14, 2012 and I had the honor of entertaining everyone at the reception.  The venue was the Bayview Club, formerly the Langley NCO Club, and it was beautifully decorated in a beach decor complete with Adirondack chairs and a jon boat that was used as the gift “table”.  Valia and Drew’s selection of  our Signature Love Story Package allowed me to share some really cool history about each of them and their relationship.  We also added uplighting around the room and a custom Monogram Gobo for the dancefloor.

The evening started with introductions of the wedding party to “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins.  After presenting chapter 1 of their love story, which is a brief bio of each of them, they made their grand entrance to “Honey Bee” by Blake Shelton.  Their first dance was a special voice-over remix of “God Gave Me You” by Blake Shelton which included various sound clips of the bride and groom captured during an interview session we had a couple of months ago.  Several guests and bridal party members teared up as Valia and Drew shared this special moment.  Valia and her dad danced to “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw followed by Drew and his mom dancing to “Simple Man” by Shinedown.  Prior to the cake and toast, I presented Chapter 2 of their Love Story which tells of how Drew and Valia met, a little about their dating years and concludes with a little about the proposal.  I incorporate the third and final chapter as part of the “Love Story” Dance which includes all of the remaining guests joining Drew and Valia on the floor for this special dance.  As you can see in the pictures below, NO ONE was in their seats for this dance…besides, isn’t that why you hired us?

I was joined along side by Colonial DJs VP of Sales, Howard Alexander who was a big help with the lighting setup, photography was done by Heather Hughes and videography by Gary Randall.

Megan Gladding & Aaron Leach

On Saturday June 30, 2012 Megan Gladding and Aaron leach celebrated their wedding reception at the Embassy Suites in Hampton, Virginia.  Sandy Brock and her staff did an outstanding job at the event and the food was quite tasty as well.  Megan is the daughter of Frankie and Marilyn Gladding who I have known for many years through church.  I have seen Aaron, and his brother and Best Man Matthew race winged champ carts at Langley Speedway.  It was fun to make mention that Matthew won the 20 lap race the night before the wedding!

The wedding party was announced to “Bring Em Out” by T.I. and Jay-Z.  Megan and Aaron were introduced and shared their first dance to “Living Our Love Song” by Jason Michael Carroll.  Megan got a big surprise when we lit the room in purple with uplighting.  Next to take the floor were Father of the Bride, Frankie and Megan for the Father Daughter Dance, “I Loved Her First” by Heartland.  Aaron and his mom followed with the Mother Son Dance “My Wish” from Rascal Flatts.  Toasts were given by Best Man Matthew Leach and Maid of Honor Erin Adams, and Megan and Aaron cut the wedding cake to “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor.

During the dancing portion of the reception, we played the Shoe Game, a fun game which the bride and groom swapped shoes and I asked a series of questions that Megan and Aaron answered by holding up the appropriate shoe.  Lot’s of fun!!

The night concluded with “God Gave Me You” by Blake Shelton as their last dance

Julie Martin of JM Photography did the photography.

Check some photos from the event (Mine, not Julie’s…her’s are much better!!)

Allison Gevarter & Greg Johnson 6/23/2012

We were at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg again for the Gevarter/Johnson wedding on Saturday, June 23rd.  After the ceremony earlier in the day, the group gathered on the James River Terrace for cocktails.  We introduced the wedding party to “I’m Shipping Off To Boston” by Dropkick Murphy and the crowd really responded well.  I got lucky with the timing as the song ended just as they reached the dancefloor, and that allowed a great transition into their first dance “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol.  Allison and her father danced to “Walk With You” by Edwin McCain followed by Greg and his mother who danced to “Moonlight In Vermont” by Frank Sinatra.  The dancefloor stayed packed the entire night with a great selection of requests from Allison and Greg.

I had a great time working at Kingsmill’s Allison Paterson who does an awsome job getting me the information I need and helping to make the event run smoothly.  Dana Duncan photographed the event and videography was shot by Stephen Davis of Drop To Design Studios.  Overall a fun, classics wedding reception.  Congratulations Allison & Greg and have fun in Italy

Stacy Casey & Russell Hines 6/16/2012

Kingsmill Resort was the venue for Stacy Casey and Russell Hines on June 16th.  The evening began with a 5pm ceremony.  Pre-Ceremony music consisted of Adele, Tracy Chapman and Dave Matthews (Stacy is a huge DMB fan).  The family was seated to “Heavenly Day” by Patty Griffin, the attendants entered to “Lover Lay Down” by you guessed it Dave Matthews, and Stacy and her father walked in to “Crash” by who else, Dave Matthews.  Stacy and Russell’s vows, as well as other poems and readings used during the ceremony were sealed along with a bottle of wine in a time capsule which they will open on their 10th anniversary.  The wedding party made their exit with a  fun recessional “Say Hey…I Love You” from Michael Franti and Spearhead.  Beautifully done!!

Cocktails were on the James River terrace and the guests entered the James River Grand Ballroom at 6:45p for dinner and dancing…and did they dance!  The floral decorations were done by Elgin Morris of Williamsburg Floral, the entire room was draped in white by Big Top Entertainment and Kingsmill A/V installed uplighting behind the drapes for a beautiful lighting effect.  Keith Cephus photographed the entire event and should have some interesting photos for Stacy and Russell.  My apologies to the videographers, I didn’t get your card.

Stacy and Russell’s first dance was “Steady As We Go” from DMB, followed by the Father/Daughter Dance “My Little Girl” from Tim McGraw and a special Mother/Daughter Dance “In My Daughter’s Eyes” by Martina McBride.  Russell and his mom danced to “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones.  Other highlights were a Dinosaur Groom’s cake, see pics below, and a 20 minute fireworks display over the James River.

So…to Judy and Art Casey , Donna and Melvin Hines, and of course Stacy and Russell Hines, thanks for letting me be apart of your special day.  I had a great time and look forward to keeping in touch in the future.  All the Best!!

Resort Entertainment

Some of our favorite gigs of the summer are Resort Entertainment.  We get the chance to meet lots of fun people who are vacationing in the Williamsburg Area.  We offer a great mix of games, music, karaoke and prizes for guests of all ages.  Althought the temperature was soaring this evening, the guests at tonight’s event were ready to dance and get involved.  We played various bingo games, had a hula hoop contest, and were paid lots of “money” to dance.  The kids then used to money to buy prizes at the Wacky Auction.  Lots of fun was had by all, including me!

Now time to rest up for the HOG Rally tomorrow night!  Come on our to the State HOG Rally and sing some karaoke.  I’ll get a chance to hang out with country music recording artist Johnny St. Clair.
